Pantofola d’Oro is an Italian manufacturer of football boots and footwear which just ooze class. Founded in 1886 by the Lazzarini family in a little cobbler shop by the old city walls of Ascoli Piceno, Italy, the company specialised in wrestling shoes before eventually turning to football boots. Many legends of the Italian game have worn these boots over the years.
The brand name Pantofola d’Oro originates from when Juventus and Wales legend John Charles commented “these are not football boots, they are golden slippers.” The compliment was taken so literally that, before long, the name Pantofola d’Oro, the Italian translation for ‘golden slipper’, was adopted as the company’s official name.
To celebrate the beauty of these boots Pro Direct Soccer are hosting a special Made to Measure event at their London store (19 Fouberts Place, Carnaby, London) on Saturday 18th October. The event is open to the public from 11am-6pm, and in store they will have Pantofola specialists from their Ascoli workshop delivering consultations and providing a measurement service.
