The new issue of Italian sport and lifestyle magazine 11 Undici hit the shelves recently and its dedicated to the start of the new Serie A 2019/20 season – ‘nuova era Serie A.’
From Romelu Lukaku at Inter, Matthijs de Ligt at Juventus and Hirving Lozano at Napoli (no mention of, er, Chris Smalling at Roma, unsurprisingly), lots of big names arrived on the Italian peninsula this summer and the hype is back in campionato più bello del mondo.
There is a focus on the game as a whole in Italy with plans to grow the league into a European powerhouse, with new stadiums, domestic competitions and the Champions League and Europa League, the economy in general, and what steps are needed to reach such heights. There are features on Lukaku, de Ligt, Lozano, as well as international profiles on Zidane and Guardiola, and also previews of other major leagues in the Premier League, La Liga, Ligue1 and Bundesliga, as well as an early look at Italy’s chances at Euro 2020.
With a wonderful photoshoot for the front cover posed like a classic renaissance masterpiece and some striking illustration and infographics inside the magazine it all makes for some fascinating reading.
